Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to, other people and how they make sense of the world around them.
Autism is a spectrum, which means that, while all people with autism share certain difficulties, their condition will affect each individual differently.
Whilst some people with autism are able to live relatively independent lives, others may have accompanying learning disabilities and need a lifetime of specialist support.
Children with autism have three main areas of difficulty, these are known as the 'triad of impairments'.

Aiding those with communication difficulties
People with autism may also experience over- or under-sensitivity to sounds, touch, tastes, smells, light or colours.
While there is no 'cure' for autism, there are many approaches to help with the difficulties children might experience.
It is important to remember that some people have autism and do not know, whilst others do know but do not need or want a diagnosis. A diagnosis can be helpful for some but harmful for others.
PROFESSIONAL SPEECH SERVICES
Helping those with speech and language difficulties
Speech and language therapy is a key element in developing the communication skills of the child to enable them to function in their environment and to reach their potential.
